Life Map
Life is a story
My name is Rocio Ramos and I was born in a small town known as Lindsay, California. I come from a family of both my parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. The age difference wasn’t a problem because my siblings and I were always so close and grew up enjoying the same things. In all my school years I have attended Lindsay Unified and I am finally approaching my 4th year at High School as a senior. I wish to attend a college of my choice in the fall of 2016.
Both of my parents have little education; they were pulled out of school early because my grandparents put them to work as soon as they thought they were old enough to help support for the family. Although my both parents education were cut short because of my grandparents, my dad went out of his way and learned to write and speak english. Now he’s a truck driver who knows perfect english. I am the third child of 5. My oldest brother, Alex has baby named Amoriee Danielle who was born 5 months ago and works as a supervisor at a tape industry. My oldest sister, Celeste, is attending her 4th year at Fresno State majoring on Public Health and works full time at the clothing store Macys. My siblings and I were all raised closely with my cousins from my mother's side because my dad’s side of the family live up North California and on the East Coast. On September 2013, my grandpa David passed away due to a bad kidney. After his death, I experienced so many family problems that lasted about 4 months. As a new years resolution, my family and us decided to leave the past behind and start the year off pure from any hatred towards each other. My family and I are now closer than ever because we have overcome that obstacle.
Lindsay is a small town that has a population of 12,974 and it’s known for its agriculture. Although it's all agriculture, most families cannot provide for themselves so they rely on government money for welfare and unemployment from the state. Most hispanics that live here also don’t have an education so they have trouble meeting the requirements for certain jobs. Lindsay has 5 elementary schools and 1 high school. I attend Lindsay High School and it has more than 1,000 students in total of grades 9 to 12. In my High School years, I do not recall struggling as much as I did Junior year. Junior year requires several works that have to be completed when expected. As a senior this year, I am learning more and more by day because I’m taking new courses that are necessary to graduate. Since I have decided not to go far for college, I’m choosing to apply at CSU Bakersfield or CSU Fresno. However, I have not yet taken the SAT, so I need to sign up and take it soon.
My life has changed so much as the days go by because I am preparing myself to be successful in the future. I am determined to be a role model to my 2 younger siblings who will one day be in the same position I am right now. My siblings and I have the same mind set we want to be successful, have good education and have enough money to support ourselves and family. After High School is over, I want to continue my education.
